Section 14: Dean Administration

14. Dean Administration.___ (1) The Dean Administration will be a whole-time officer of the University and shall be appointed by the Syndicate on such terms and conditions as it may determine. (2) Under the general supervision of the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean Administration shall:___ (a) be the custodian of the common seal and the academic records of the University ; (b) maintain a Register of Registered Graduates in the prescribed manner ; (c) conduct elections of members to the various Authorities in the prescribed manner ; (d) be the Secretary of the Syndicate, the Academic Council, the Finance and Planning Committee, the Selection Committee and such other committees as may be prescribed ; (e) manage the property, finances and investments of the University ; (f) prepare the annual and revised budget estimates of the University and place such estimates before the Finance and Planning Committee and the Syndicate ; (g) ensure that the funds of the University are expended for the purposes for which they are provided ; (h) be responsible for preparing development projects, development budget and other plans for academic development of the University ; (i) organize and assist in conducting periodic evaluation of academic programmes of the University ; (j) organize studies and prepare recommendations on consolidation of existing programmes, elimination of in fructuous activities and introduction of new programmes based on new developments in various fields o knowledge; (k) exercise control over the development budget and ensure the proper e xecution of development projects of the University Colleges ; and (l) perform such other duties as may be specified by the Vice-Chancellor for and other Authorities from time to time.
