17. Syndicate.___ (1) The Syndicate shall consist of:___ (i) the Vice-Chancellor, who shall be its Chairman ; (ii) the Chief Justice of Pakistan or a Judge of the Supreme Court nominated by him ; (iii) the Secretary, Women's Division, Government of Pakistan ; (iv) the Chairman or whole-time Member of the University Grants Commission ; (v) the Education Secretary, Government of Pakistan, or his nominee not below the rank of Joint Secretary ; (vi) one member of the National Assembly to be nominated by the Speaker of the Assembly (vii) the Vice-Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University ; (viii) three Deans of University College to be elected from amongst themselves ; (ix) two women of eminence to be nominated by the Chancellor ; and (x) the Dean Administration, who shall also be its Secretary. (2) The members of the Syndicate, other than the ex-officio members, shall hold office for three years. (3) The number of members to constitute the quorum for a meeting of the Syndicate §hall be seven.
