Under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act, 2025, PECA section 29 was substituted so that the Federal Government shall establish the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for inquiry, investigation, and prosecution of offences under PECA. Section 30 provides that only an authorized officer of the investigation agency has powers to investigate a PECA offence (subject to the Act’s provisos).
