254. Fees in respect of surveys.––Before a survey under this chapter is commenced, the owner, agent or master of the ship to be surveyed shall pay to such officer, as the Federal Government may appoint in this behalf– (a) a fee calculated on the tonnage of the ship according to the prescribed rates; and (b) such additional fee, in respect of the expenses, (if any), of the journey of the surveyor to the port, as the Federal Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, direct.
