PECA Pakistan: Cyber Crime Law Overview
The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA) is Pakistan’s primary federal statute on electronic crimes. The Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act No. II of 2025) amended PECA, including by substituting section 29 to establish the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and inserting related institutional provisions.

Amendment 2025 — verified highlights only
Act II of 2025 received presidential assent and was published in the Gazette Extraordinary on 29 January 2025. Among other changes, it substituted section 29 (NCCIA) and inserted section 50A (transitory). It also inserted section 26A (punishment for false and fake information) and broader regulatory chapters — read the Gazette PDF and consolidated act text rather than relying on summaries alone.
