12. Restriction on acquisition of ship.—(1) No citizen of Pakistan, nor any company shall acquire any ship for registration under Pakistan flag unless qualified to do so under this Ordinance. (2) No Pakistani ship shall, except with prior permission in writing from the Federal Government be converted, modified or altered in such manner so as to change the character of the ship. (3) Whoever contravenes or attempts to contravene the provisions of sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) shall be liable to a fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees and any transaction made in contravention of any such provisions shall be void.
