Section 153: Payment of wages before Shipping Master

153. Payment of wages before Shipping Master.—(1) Where a seaman is discharged before a Shipping Master in Pakistan, the master or owner of the ship shall pay the wages of the seaman through, or in the presence of, the Shipping Master unless a competent court otherwise directs; and in such a case, if the master or owner pays the wages in the other manner, he shall be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees. (2) If the master or owner, of a home-trade ship of a gross tonnage of less than two hundred, so desires he may pay the wages of the seaman of that ship in the same manner as a seaman discharged from a foreign-going ship is paid.
