17. Academic Council. —(1) The Academic Council shall consist of— (a) the Rector who shall be its Chairman; (b) the Directors of the respective campuses; (c) the Chairman of the Teaching Departments; (d) all Professors of the Institute; (e) the Registrar who shall be the Secretary; and (f) five eminent scholars to be nominated by the Board. (2) A nominated member of the Academic Council shall hold office for a term of three years and shall be eligible for renomination. (3) The office of a nominated member of the Academic Council shall become vacant if he resigns or fails to attend three consecutive meetings of the Academic Council without sufficient cause or leave of absence. (4) The quorum for a meeting of the Academic Council shall be one half of the total number of its members, a fraction being counted as one.
