267. Ship not to carry passengers in contravention of the Ordinance.—(1) No ship on any voyage shall carry or attempt to carry any passenger in contravention of section 248, or shall have on board or in any part thereof a number of passengers which is greater than the number set forth in the certificate of survey as the number of passengers which the ship or the part thereof is fit to carry on that voyage. (2) The owner, agent and of a master of a ship in respect of which the provisions of sub- section (1) are contravened shall each be liable to a fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees.
