39. Transitory provisions.⎯ (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, the members of the first Senate, except the Institute teachers, shall be appointed by the Chancellor in accordance with the numbers and criteria for membership specified in this Act. The first Senate so constituted shall initiate, as soon as possible, the, process for the appointment of the members of the Syndicate and the Academic Council in accordance with the provisions of this Act. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act and subject to the provisions of subsection (1) of section (3), the first ViceChancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor for a period of three years.
