Section 445: Fraudulent use of certificate of registry, certificate of inspection or safety

445. Fraudulent use of certificate of registry, certificate of inspection or safety certificate, etc.—(1) No person shall use or attempt to use the certificate of registry, the certificate of inspection, the safety certificate, or, as the case may be, the exemption certificate granted in respect of a fishing vessel for any purpose other than the lawful navigation of the vessel. (2) No person shall use or attempt to use for the navigation of a fishing vessel a certificate of registry, a certificate of inspection or a fishing vessel safety certificate, or as the case may be, a fishing vessel exemption certificate not granted in respect of that vessel. (3) No person who has in his possession or under his control the certificate of registry or the certificate of inspection of a fishing vessel or a fishing vessel safety certificate, or as the case may be, fishing vessel exemption certificate shall refuse or fail without reasonable cause to deliver such certificate on demand to the owner of the vessel. (4) If any person contravenes any of the provisions of this section, he shall, for each offence, be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
