This section defines the following terms used in The Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design Act, 2011: • Academic Council — the Academic Council of the Institute; • Authority — any of the Authorities of the Institute specified in terms of section 15; • Chancellor — the Chancellor of the Institute; • College — a constituent college; • Commission — the Higher Education Commission set up under the Higher Education Commission Ordinance, 2002 (LIII of 2002); • Dean — the head of a Faculty or the head of an academic body granted the status of a Faculty under this Act or by the statutes or regulations; • Department — a teaching department maintained and administered or recognized by the Institute in the manner prescribed; • Deputy Chairperson — the Pro­Chancellor of the Institute; • Faculty — an administrative and academic unit of the Institute consisting of one or more departments, as prescribed; • Government — the Federal Government; • Institute — the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design, Lahore, reconstituted under section 3; (1) “Institute teacher” means a whole­time teacher appointed and paid by the Institute, or recognized by the Institute as such; • prescribed — prescribed by statutes, regulations or rules made under this Act; • Principal — the head of a college; • Representation Committees — the Representation Committees constituted under section 23; • Review Panel — the Review Panel set up by the Chancellor in accordance with the provisions of section 8; • Search Committee — the Search Committee set up by the Senate under section 11; • Senate — the Senate of the Institute; • Syndicate — the Syndicate of the Institute; • Vice­Chancellor — the Vice­Chancellor of the Institute.
