Section 14: Penalties and procedure

14. Penalties and procedure.—(1) Any person who— (a) contravenes any of the provisions of this Ordinance, or any rule or order made thereunder; or (b) in any application for registration under this Ordinance, or in any report or statement submitted to the Registration Authority or published for general information thereunder, makes any false statement or false representation; shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both. (2) Where the person committing an offence under this ordinance is a company, or other body corporate, or an association of person, every director, manager, secretary and other officer thereof shall, unless he proves that the offence was committed without his knowledge or consent, be deemed to be guilty of such offence. 1 Subs. by the Central Adaptation Laws Order, 1964 (P. O. No. 1), Art. 2 and Sch. (3) No Court shall take cognizance of an offence under this Ordinance except upon complaint in writing made by the Registration Authority, or by an officer authorized by it in this behalf.
