17. Discoveries and inventions. All rights relating to discoveries, inventions, designs and any improvements in materials, techniques, processes, apparatus or equipment made by any officer or employee of the Institute in the course of his employment shall vest in the Institute, but the Institute may grant to any such officer or employee such award or honorarium as it may deem fit.
