This section defines the following terms used in The Registered Layout-Designs of Integrated Circuits Ordinance, 2000: • Controller — the Controller of Patents appointed under the Patents Ordinance, 2000 • integrated circuit — a product, in its final form or an intermediate form, in which the elements, at least one of which is an active element, and some or all of the interconnections are integrally formed in or on a piece of material which is intended to perform an electronic function • layout-design — a three dimensional disposition, howsoever expressed, of the elements, at least one of which is an active element and of some or all of the interconnection of an integrated circuit or such a three dimensional disposition prepared for an integrated circuit intended for manufacture • Patent Office — the Patent Office established under the Patents Ordinance, 2000 • prescribed — prescribed by rules made under this Ordinance • protection — the right to layout-design protection as provided under section 4 • registration — registration under section 8 • right-holder — the natural person who, or legal entity which, shall be the beneficiary of the protection referred to in section 4; and • regulations — regulations made under this Ordinance This is the official statutory text, shown as written — it is not a paraphrase or a legal opinion. 2. Definitions :___In this Ordinance, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,— (a) “Controller” means the Controller of Patents appointed under the Patents Ordinance, 2000; (b) “District Court” has the meanings assigned to that expression by the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (Act V of 1908). (c) “integrated circuit” means a product, in its final form or an intermediate form, in which the elements, at least one of which is an active element, and some or all of the interconnections are integrally formed in or on a piece of material which is intended to perform an electronic function; (d) “layout-design” means a three dimensional disposition, howsoever expressed, of the elements, at least one of which is an active element and of some or all of the interconnection of an integrated circuit or such a three dimensional disposition prepared for an integrated circuit intended for manufacture; (e) “Patent Office” means the Patent Office established under the Patents Ordinance, 2000; (f) “prescribed” means prescribed by rules made under this Ordinance; (g) “protection” means the right to layout-design protection as provided under section 4; (h) “registration” means registration under section 8; (i) “right-holder” means the natural person who, or legal entity which, shall be the beneficiary of the protection referred to in section 4; and (j) “regulations” means regulations made under this Ordinance.
