Section 147: Contents of reply

147. Contents of reply.—(1) The reply by a respondent to an election petition shall contain a precise statement of the material facts on which the respondent relies to rebut the allegations in the election petition. (2) The respondent shall, amongst others, attach the following documents with the reply— (a) complete list of witnesses and their statements on affidavits; and (b) documentary evidence relied upon by the respondent to rebut the allegations in the election petition. (3) In addition to dismissal of the election petition, the respondent may claim costs of the proceedings as well as award of special costs if the election petition is held to be frivolous or vexatious.
