Section 185: Special Judges

24[185. Special Judges.- (1) The Federal Government may by notification in the official Gazette, appoint as many Special Judges as it considers necessary and, where it appoints more than one Special Judge, shall specify in the notification the headquarters of each Special Judge and the territorial limits within which he shall exercise jurisdiction under this Act. (2) No person shall be appointed as a Special Judge unless he is or has been a Sessions Judge. (3) Notwithstanding the provisions of sub-sections (1) and (2), the Federal Government may, for the areas comprising the districts of Lasbela 25[,Turbat, Panjgoor and Gwadar], appoint any other officer as Special Judge and specify in the notification his headquarters and the limits of his territorial jurisdiction under this Act. (4) If a Special Judge is, for any reason, temporarily unable to perform his duties under this Act, he may generally or specially authorize the Sessions Judge 26[***] of the district to perform such duties of an urgent nature as he may deem proper and such Sessions Judge 26[***] shall perform such duties.
