12. Cognizance of offences.—(1) Cognizance of offences shall be initiated in accordance with the Code on the complaint received from an aggrieved person. (2) The trial of offences shall be conducted by Magistrate of lst class. (3) The provisions of Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 relating to the offence of counterfeit or substandard also shall be applicable.
