6. Eligibility for appointment.__(1) Any female citizen 3[* * *] shall be eligible for appointment as an officer in the 1[Pakistan Armed Forces Nursing Service] and, if she satisfies the prescribed conditions, may be appointed thereto in the manner laid down in section 5 of this Act: Provided that a woman who is not a citizen of Pakistan but who otherwise fulfils the conditions laid down by, or under this section for a citizen of Pakistan, may, with the consent of the 2[Federal Government], signified in writing, be appointed as an officer in the 1[Pakistan Armed Forces Nursing Service]. (2) Every person so appointed shall be subject to this Act and to the rules and regulations made thereunder.
