Section 102: Bye-elections

102. Bye-elections.—(1) When the seat of a Member becomes vacant, the Commission shall, by notification in the official Gazette, call upon the constituency concerned to elect a person to fill the seat for the constituency on such date as may be specified in the notification and the provisions of this Act and the Rules shall apply, with necessary changes, to the election to fill such seat. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in section 57, the days for the several stages of an election shall be such as may be specified in the notification of the Commission under sub-section (1).
