Section 439: Power of the Commission to require information from foreign companies

439. Power of the Commission to require information from foreign companies.−(1) The Commission may, at any time, call upon a foreign company to furnish information of shareholding including beneficial ownership or such other information or document, as may be required for the purposes of this Act or in connection with any inspection, inquiry or investigation and it shall be the duty of the company and its officers to furnish such information or document within specified time. (2) Any person who fails to provide any information or document required under sub-section (1) shall commit an offence liable to a penalty of level 3 on standard scale.
