Section 28: Piracy

28. Piracy.—A person commits piracy, if he commits any one or more of the following acts, namely: — (a) any illegal act of violence or detention, depredation, committed for private ends by the crew or the passengers of a private ship or a private aircraft and directed.— (i) against another ship or aircraft or against persons or property onboard such ship or aircraft; or (ii) against a ship, aircraft, persons or property on high seas or in a place outside the jurisdiction of any state; and (b) any act of voluntary participation in the operation of a ship or of an aircraft with knowledge of facts making it a pirate ship or aircraft; (c) any act of abetting or inciting or of intentionally facilitating an act specified in clauses (a) or (b).
