Section 58: Penalty

2[58. Penalty.— Whoever contravenes any provision of this Act or any rule, regulation or bye­ law, made or scheme sanctioned thereunder, or commits a default by omission or commission, or makes a mis­declaration bearing upon the safety and security in port, on­shore or off­shore shall, if no other penalty is provided for such contravention, default, omission or commission or mis­declaration be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to rupees one million, or with both.]
