Penalty for encroachments.– Whoever makes an encroachment on any village road, path or other common place and fails to remove the same within a period of not exceeding thirty days as may be fixed by a Revenue Officer by means of a notice or repeats an encroachment shall, in addition to any other action that may be taken against him under any law for the time being in force, be punished by the Revenue Officer with fine which may extend to [one hundred thousand] rupees and if the encroachment continues with a further fine which may extend to [ten thousand] rupees for each day the default continues.]
